# Plan Instagram content that gets comments

Lesson 12 of 206 min read

In this lesson you will

- Build a weekly calendar with posts that teach and posts that ask
- Write a keyword list so each offer has its own word
- Check each week which posts brought comments and DMs

To plan Instagram content that gets comments, give your week a fixed rhythm and mark which posts ask for a keyword. Write the keyword and what the DM sends next to each post before you film. Then CreatorFlow answers every comment while you make the next post.

## Three kinds of posts in an Instagram content plan

Each post does one of three things. Plan all three each week. A sale post works better after people have seen your reach and trust posts.

| Post | Who sees it | What it asks | Formats that fit |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Reach post | Mostly people who do not follow you | A follow, or a keyword for a small free thing | Reels with one quick tip, a myth or a before and after |
| Trust post | Your followers | A keyword for a free guide, plan or checklist | Carousels, talking to camera, a story from your work |
| Sale post | Followers close to buying | A keyword for the price, the booking page or the offer | Client results, your offer explained, a product in use |

Stories sit next to all three. Use them to repeat the keyword from a post and to ask people to reply. A Story reply can start its own automation, as the [Story funnel](https://creatorflow.so/learn/story-automation) shows.

## A weekly content calendar with keyword posts

This is Lena's week. She posts quick dinner Reels and sells a monthly cooking class. Copy the shape and change the topics.

| Day | Post | Topic | Ask | The DM sends |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Monday | Reel | 20-minute tomato pasta | Comment RECIPE | The recipe page |
| Tuesday | Story | A pasta or rice poll | Vote | No DM. She answers replies by hand |
| Wednesday | Carousel | Five pantry dinners | Comment PLAN | The free 5-day dinner plan |
| Thursday | Stories | Questions from her DMs | Reply with a question | No DM. She answers by hand |
| Friday | Reel | A student cooks her first lasagna | DM me PRICE | The class price and dates |
| Weekend | Stories or rest | What she cooks at home | None | No DM |

Five posts, three keyword asks, one for each kind of post. Not every post needs a keyword. A post that only teaches earns trust, and people answer the next ask. Each post asks for one word only.

## Keyword list template

Write the keyword list before you film. Give each offer one line, with the word, what the DM sends, where it runs and its status. Read the list before you build a new automation.

Copy one line per offer

Recipe posts RECIPE · the recipe from that post · one automation per post · live

Free thing PLAN · free 5-day dinner plan · plan carousel · live

DM question PRICE · class price and dates · every DM · live

Story CLASS · class dates and booking page · Stories before a new class · paused

Ended offer WINTERBOX · now sends the spring box · old posts · retired, never reused

Name the word after the thing, such as RECIPE or PLAN. Avoid words from normal comments, such as YES, LOVE or INFO. When an offer ends, change the DM to what replaced it. Never give a retired word to a new offer, because old captions still ask for it.

## Plan a month of posts in one sitting

1. 1
   ### Pick one goal
Emails, followers, sales or bookings. The goal decides what your sale posts and trust posts ask for.
2. 2
   ### Pick three to five topics you repeat
Lena repeats quick dinners, pantry plans and her class. Every post fits one topic, so people know what you post.
3. 3
   ### Write each post before you film
For each post write the hook, the format and the keyword. Your DMs and comments show the questions to answer next.
4. 4
   ### Film the week in one session
Film all Reels together. The evening before each keyword post, build its automation with **Next post or reel**, so the first comments get the DM.
5. 5
   ### Plan dated offers first
Launches, sales and events need posts before the day. Plan them 4 to 6 weeks ahead, then fill the other days. The [launch campaign](https://creatorflow.so/learn/launch-campaign) shows the days.

## A check at the end of each week

- Find the post with the most keyword comments. Plan one more post on that topic, in that format
- Find posts with many views and few keyword comments. Move the ask into the first caption line and onto the screen
- Read the comments that asked but missed the word, such as RECIPES. Add those forms to the automation
- Check that every keyword in the calendar is on the list, and its automation shows **Active**
- Leave one or two days free next week for a trend or a question from your DMs

The numbers and what to change are in [Measure and improve](https://creatorflow.so/learn/dashboard-tour).

## Mistakes that break a content plan

- **A calendar with no keyword column**
A post with no planned ask ends with a like. Write the keyword and the DM next to each ask post.
- **Two asks in one caption**
"Comment, save and tag a friend" makes people stop and choose. Ask for one thing.
- **A keyword with no automation**
The caption asks for PLAN and nothing sends. Build the automation the evening before the post.
- **A month you cannot film**
Seven posts one week and none the next helps nobody. Plan the number you can keep every week.

Practice

## Your task

1. 1
Write next week's calendar with five posts, and mark which ones ask for a keyword.
2. 2
Write the keyword list, one line per offer.
3. 3
Build the automation for the first keyword post before you post it.

You are done when every ask post in next week's calendar has its keyword, and the first one has an Active automation.

## Key points

- Plan reach, trust and sale posts each week, and repeat the keyword in Stories.
- Write the keyword next to each ask post before you film, and keep one keyword list.
- Each week, make more of the post that brought the most keyword comments.

## Questions

**How often should I post on Instagram?**

As often as you can every week without gaps. Three posts a week is a good start for most creators. Add Stories on the days between.

**Should every post ask for a keyword?**

No. Posts that only teach or entertain build trust. Two or three keyword posts a week is a good start. Never put two asks in one caption.

**Can I use the same comment keyword on many posts?**

Yes, one automation per post, each set to its own post. People learn the word, such as RECIPE. A DM keyword is different. It watches every DM, so use each DM word in one automation only.

**How far ahead should I plan?**

One or two weeks for normal posts. Plan launches, sales and events 4 to 6 weeks ahead.

**Is comment-to-DM on the Free plan?**

Yes. Comment, Story reply and keyword DM triggers are on every plan. Free has 500 DMs a month.
