Inro vs ManyChat: Instagram DM Automation Compared (2026)

Inro vs ManyChat compared on pricing, AI, and channels, with July 2026 numbers for both. See which meter fits your audience size and what each one costs.

Inro vs ManyChat: Instagram DM Automation Compared (2026)

Inro and ManyChat both automate Instagram DMs, and they charge on different meters. Inro is Instagram-only, includes its AI agent on the €12.99/month Pro plan, and scales your bill with active contacts. ManyChat covers seven channels, starts at $17/month for 250 contacts, and sells AI as a $29/month add-on. Both figures were verified on July 31, 2026.

The choice looks simple until you price a good month. A Reel that pulls 8,000 comments creates roughly 8,000 activated contacts, and that single post lands in a completely different pricing band on each tool. On one, the bill auto-scales past a published starting point. On the other, you cross a tier boundary and pay the higher rate for the whole month.

Most comparisons of these two stack feature checkmarks side by side and stop there. That misses the thing that actually decides the cost, which is that both tools bill on the same underlying unit but publish it in different currencies and different shapes. This comparison normalizes both meters, then works through pricing, AI packaging, channel coverage, and who each tool is built for.

Key Takeaways

  • Same meter, different shape. Both tools bill on activated contacts per month, not on messages sent. Inro publishes a starting price and auto-scales above it; ManyChat publishes fixed contact bands.
  • Entry pricing: Inro Pro starts at €12.99/month covering 500+ active contacts. ManyChat Essential is $17/month, or $14/month billed annually, covering 250 contacts (inro.social and manychat.com, July 2026).
  • AI is packaged differently. Inro includes its AI Agent on Pro. ManyChat sells AI as a $29/month add-on on top of the plan price, which turns a $39/month Pro plan into $68/month.
  • Channels are the real fork. Inro runs Instagram only. ManyChat covers Instagram, Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp, TikTok, Telegram, SMS, and email, with WhatsApp, SMS, and email gated to Pro and above.
  • Currency matters for US buyers. Inro prices in euros, ManyChat in dollars. A euro-denominated subscription moves with the exchange rate on a dollar budget.
  • Free tiers differ by 4x. Inro’s free plan covers 100 active contacts per month; ManyChat’s covers 25 (inro.social and manychat.com, July 2026).
  • Bottom line: Inro fits Instagram-first accounts that want conversational AI included at the entry price. ManyChat fits teams that need more than one channel under one login.

What Inro Does

Inro is an Instagram automation platform built around an AI agent that holds a conversation rather than firing a single templated reply. It captures intent from feed comments, Story replies, mentions, Lives, inbound DMs, and click-to-DM ads, then qualifies the lead and follows up in the account’s voice (inro.social, July 2026).

Three things define its scope. Every conversation feeds a built-in Instagram CRM with tags and segments. Outbound DM campaigns let you message a saved segment on your own schedule instead of waiting for a trigger. And the platform connects to a large integration surface through Make, which Inro puts at 8,000+ tools (inro.social, July 2026).

Pacing controls are included from the free plan up: time delays, send ratios, and comment-ratio throttling. Inro states it is a Meta Tech Provider. The company reports 10,000+ creators and brands on the platform and names Walmart, Kering, LVMH, Publicis Groupe, and Virgin Voyages among its clients (inro.social, July 2026).

Inro publishes two anchor points rather than a full rate card: €12.99/month at 500+ contacts, and €1,249/year at 10,000+ contacts. The per-contact rate between those two points is not listed on the pricing page as of July 31, 2026. If your volume swings month to month, price it with Inro directly before committing.

What ManyChat Does

ManyChat is the broadest tool in this category by channel count. One login covers Instagram, Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp, TikTok, Telegram, SMS, and email, which means a lead who starts in an Instagram comment can be picked up later over WhatsApp or email inside the same system (manychat.com/pricing, July 2026).

Its visual flow builder handles branching logic, conditions, and delays, and its tagging and segmentation model is built for audiences that get sliced many ways. That depth is why ManyChat shows up most often in agency stacks and in businesses running several brands at once.

Pricing changed on March 2, 2026. Accounts created on or after that date use a five-plan ladder.

Two details are worth reading carefully. The $14, $29, $69, and $139 figures are the annual column, and they get quoted as monthly prices often enough that it is worth stating plainly: month-to-month, the ladder is $17, $39, $99, and $199. Second, WhatsApp, SMS, and email are gated to Pro and above, and WhatsApp and SMS carry per-message carrier fees on top of the subscription.

How Each One Charges You

Both tools bill on activated contacts, which is the same unit under two different names. A contact activates when someone triggers your automation: comments your keyword, replies to a Story, clicks a button in a flow, or sends a DM that your automation picks up. Sending that person five messages instead of one does not change the count. Reaching 3,000 new people does.

That single fact reframes the comparison. Your bill on either tool is a function of how many distinct people engage in a calendar month, which makes it a function of your reach, not your effort. A creator with 40,000 followers and one Reel that travels will pay more than a creator with 200,000 followers and steady, modest engagement.

The difference is what happens at the boundary. ManyChat’s bands are fixed and visible, so you can read the ladder and know exactly what 7,600 contacts costs: the $99/month Business tier, because 7,600 clears the 7,500 ceiling. Inro auto-scales, so the number moves with usage rather than jumping, but the curve between the two published anchors is not on the page.

The AI Difference

Inro includes its AI Agent on the Pro plan and gives the free plan 50 AI Agent credits to test with. The agent is multi-turn: it answers follow-up questions, qualifies the lead against your criteria, and moves toward a booking or a sale rather than delivering one link and stopping (inro.social, July 2026).

ManyChat sells AI separately. The AI add-on runs $29/month on top of the subscription and covers the AI Step, Intention Recognition, Flow Builder Assistant, and Text Improver (manychat.com, July 2026). The arithmetic matters here. ManyChat Pro at $39/month plus AI is $68/month billed monthly, or $58/month if you take the annual rate.

Neither approach is automatically better. Bundled AI is cheaper if you use it, and a paid add-on lets accounts that run purely keyword-triggered flows skip a cost they do not need. The question to answer before you pick is whether your DMs actually need a conversation or just need to deliver the right link fast.

Channel Coverage

This is the cleanest fork in the comparison and the one most likely to decide it for you.

Inro is Instagram only, and every feature is shaped to Instagram’s surfaces: feed comments, Story replies, mentions, Lives, DMs, and click-to-DM ads. ManyChat spans seven channels, so an audience you build on Instagram can be messaged later over WhatsApp, SMS, or email without exporting it anywhere.

If Instagram is where your audience lives and you have no plans to run WhatsApp or SMS, the extra channels are capacity you pay for and do not use. If you already run more than one channel, consolidating them under one contact database is worth real money in saved coordination. For a wider view of the category, see our roundup of Instagram DM automation tools.

What You Pay as Your Audience Grows

Here is the same month, priced on both meters. Contacts activated is the input; everything else follows from it.

Contacts activated in a monthInroManyChat (monthly)ManyChat (annual)
100€0 (Free)$17 (Essential)$14
250€12.99 (Pro)$17 (Essential)$14
2,500Pro, auto-scaled above €12.99$39 (Pro)$29
7,500Pro, auto-scaled above €12.99$99 (Business)$69
10,000~€104 (Pro annual, €1,249/year)$199 (Advanced)$139
25,000Managed, from €200/month$199 (Advanced)$139

Read that table with two caveats. Inro’s mid-range cells are ranges, not quotes, because the rate curve between 500 and 10,000 contacts is not published. And the columns are in different currencies, so a US buyer comparing them is also taking a position on EUR/USD for the life of the subscription.

The pattern that emerges: at the very bottom of the ladder the two land close together. In the 2,500 to 7,500 band, ManyChat’s published bands make the number knowable in advance while Inro’s requires a quote. At 10,000 and above, Inro’s fixed annual plan and ManyChat’s Advanced tier are in the same neighbourhood, and the deciding factor stops being price and starts being channels.

How to Choose Between Inro and ManyChat

Answer these four in order.

How many channels do you actually message on? One, and it is Instagram, points to Inro. Two or more, or a plan to add WhatsApp or SMS within the year, points to ManyChat.

Do your DMs need a conversation? If leads ask follow-up questions before they book or buy, a multi-turn agent earns its keep and Inro includes one at the entry price. If your DM is “here is the link you asked for,” you do not need to pay for AI on either platform.

Can you predict your monthly contact volume? Steady volume works on either. Volume that spikes with a viral post is easier to budget on published bands, and easier to absorb on an auto-scaling plan that does not jump a whole tier at the boundary.

What currency is your budget in? A euro subscription on a dollar budget adds a variable you cannot control. Worth pricing in if the two options are otherwise close.

If neither answer is clean, our comparison of Instagram DM automation tools covers the wider field, and we keep a list of ManyChat alternatives for accounts that have outgrown a contact meter.

Where CreatorFlow Fits

CreatorFlow is built for one job: turning Instagram engagement into delivered links and captured emails, at a price that does not move when a post takes off.

Pro is $15/month, or $144/year at $12/month, covering 5,000 DMs per workspace across 2 workspaces. Growth is $30/month, or $288/year at $24/month, covering 10,000 DMs per workspace across 5 workspaces with 5 team members each. The free plan sends 500 DMs per month on one workspace with unlimited active automations. New accounts start on a 14-day Pro trial, which asks for a card at checkout to verify the account, then move to Free unless you upgrade.

The paid plans add Follow Gate, which asks for a follow before the link goes out, Email Gate for capturing an address inside the DM, CSV export for moving those contacts to your email platform, and geographic analytics showing clicks by country and city. CreatorFlow is a Meta Tech Provider, a status it has held since December 2025, and runs on Meta’s official Instagram API.

The pricing shape is the point of difference. Because CreatorFlow bills a flat monthly rate rather than metering activated contacts, the Reel that pulls 8,000 comments costs the same as the one that pulls 80. FAQ

Is Inro cheaper than ManyChat?

At the entry level they are close. Inro Pro starts at €12.99/month for 500+ active contacts; ManyChat Essential is $17/month, or $14/month billed annually, for 250 contacts. Above that, a direct comparison is harder because Inro auto-scales from a published starting point while ManyChat uses fixed bands, and the two price in different currencies (inro.social and manychat.com, July 2026).

Does ManyChat include AI in its plans?

No. ManyChat’s AI features are sold as a $29/month add-on on top of the subscription, covering the AI Step, Intention Recognition, Flow Builder Assistant, and Text Improver (manychat.com, July 2026). Inro includes its AI Agent on the Pro plan and gives free accounts 50 AI Agent credits.

Is Inro only for Instagram?

Yes. Inro runs on Instagram Business and Creator accounts and covers feed comments, Story replies, mentions, Lives, inbound DMs, and click-to-DM ads (inro.social, July 2026). ManyChat is the multi-channel option of the two, covering Instagram, Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp, TikTok, Telegram, SMS, and email.

Do Inro and ManyChat both have free plans?

Both do, at different sizes. Inro’s free plan covers 100 active contacts per month with 3 automations, 3 campaigns, and 50 AI Agent credits. ManyChat’s free plan covers 25 active contacts. ManyChat reduced that limit in its March 2, 2026 pricing change (inro.social and manychat.com, July 2026).

Are Inro and ManyChat both approved by Meta?

Both run on Meta’s official Instagram API, under different Meta programs. Inro states it is a Meta Tech Provider. ManyChat is a Meta Business Partner. CreatorFlow is a Meta Tech Provider, a status it has held since December 2025. Tech Provider and Business Partner are separate programs, so the labels are not interchangeable.

Which is better for a solo creator?

It depends on channels more than on price. A solo creator posting only to Instagram gets more from Inro’s included AI agent at the entry price. A solo creator who also runs an email list or a WhatsApp audience gets more from ManyChat’s single contact database across channels. A creator whose main worry is an unpredictable bill after a viral post is usually better served by a flat-rate tool.

What happens to my automations if I switch tools?

Automations do not transfer between platforms. You rebuild your triggers and message templates in the new tool, then reconnect the Instagram account through Meta’s OAuth flow. Contact lists usually move by CSV export if the tool you are leaving supports it. We wrote a walkthrough of moving from ManyChat to CreatorFlow that covers the sequence.

Inro and ManyChat pricing, plan limits, channel coverage, and Meta program status verified from inro.social/pricing, inro.social, manychat.com/pricing, and help.manychat.com as of July 31, 2026. Pricing changes without notice; check both pages before purchasing. Individual results vary.
